Online Baccarat Betting

Three bets. Two real ones. The Banker is your best friend. The Player is fine. The Tie will eat your bankroll alive.

Baccarat is the high-roller's game — historically the largest single source of casino revenue worldwide thanks to massive Asian whale action. Online, the same math applies: bet Banker, occasionally Player, never Tie.

How baccarat works

You bet on Banker, Player or Tie. Two hands of two cards each are dealt according to fixed drawing rules. Whichever total is closer to 9 wins. Tens count zero; aces count one. The 'Banker' and 'Player' are just labels — the player doesn't actually decide anything.

The math

Banker wins 45.86% of hands and pays even money minus a 5% commission — house edge 1.06%. Player wins 44.62% and pays 1:1 — house edge 1.24%. Tie pays 8:1 (sometimes 9:1) but only hits 9.52% — house edge 14.36% (or 4.85% on 9:1 tables). Always bet Banker.

Variants and trends

Punto Banco is the most common online variant. Mini-Baccarat moves faster with smaller table limits. Speed Baccarat runs ~30 seconds per hand. Squeeze versions (Lightning, No Commission) are entertainment variants — generally slightly worse RTP than standard.

Strategy reality

Like roulette, no betting system changes baccarat's house edge. The 'card-counting' edges that exist in baccarat are practically worthless (theoretical advantage on the order of 0.001%). The strategy is: pick a variant, bet Banker, set a session limit, walk when you hit it.
