Online Blackjack Betting

The lowest house-edge game in the casino. With basic strategy, you're fighting for as little as 0.4% of every wager. With proper bankroll, you can play for hours.

Blackjack rewards skill more than any other casino game. Two players sitting at the same table can produce wildly different long-run results — one playing optimally, the other guessing. The single most valuable thing you can do at a blackjack table is print a basic-strategy chart and follow it religiously.

How blackjack works (the short version)

Beat the dealer's hand without going over 21. Cards 2–10 count their face value, J/Q/K count 10, Ace counts 1 or 11. You're dealt two cards; you can hit, stand, double, split (matching pair) or surrender (some games). Dealer hits to 17, stands on 17.

Best blackjack variants online

Look for: single-deck or double-deck, 3:2 blackjack payout (avoid 6:5 — it adds 1.4% to the house edge), dealer stands on soft 17, double after split allowed. The best online variants: Microgaming Vegas Single Deck, Playtech Blackjack Switch, NetEnt Classic Blackjack.

Basic strategy in 60 seconds

Always split aces and 8s. Never split 5s or 10s. Double on 11 against dealer 2-10. Hit soft 17 or lower; stand on hard 17+. Stand on 12-16 against dealer 2-6 (dealer is likely to bust). Hit 12-16 against dealer 7-A.

Memorize these or print a chart. The chart is legal at every online table — there's no one stopping you from referencing it.

Side bets and live blackjack

Side bets (Perfect Pairs, 21+3, Insurance) carry 4–10% house edges. Skip them. Live dealer blackjack from Evolution Gaming has the same odds as RNG but a much better experience. Lightning Blackjack adds multipliers at a slight RTP cost — fun, but worse EV than standard live.
