Editor-in-Chief at BettingOnline.org and lead industry analyst. 12 years in the US and European sports betting industry, including six years on the trading desk at a Tier-1 European sportsbook before transitioning to independent publishing.
Background and credentials
Alex Park spent six years as a quantitative analyst on the trading desk at a Tier-1 European sportsbook (2014-2020), focusing on NFL, NBA, and major-event pricing. During that time, he contributed to the operator's algorithmic line-setting models for spreads and totals across the US sports calendar. Following the trading-desk role, Alex consulted independently for two seasons with mid-tier operators on pricing model improvements before joining BettingOnline.org in 2022 as Lead Industry Analyst.
Alex was promoted to Editor-in-Chief in early 2025. In that role, he sets editorial direction for the site, oversees operator review methodology, leads the annual State of the Industry research report, and acts as the final reviewer on all editorial content involving operator ratings or regulatory analysis.
Alex holds a B.S. in Economics from a UK university and completed the CFA Level II exam before transitioning into the gambling industry full-time.
Coverage areas
Alex's editorial focus is on operator market structure, regulatory developments, and the structural economics of the sports betting industry. Within that broad mandate, he writes most frequently about:
- Operator earnings analysis. Quarterly coverage of major operator earnings releases (DraftKings, Penn Entertainment, MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, Flutter Entertainment) and their implications for retail bettors.
- State-by-state regulatory tracking. Legislative developments in pre-launch states (Texas, California, Georgia) and post-launch state regulatory changes (NY tax structure, IL graduated tax, NCAA player prop restrictions).
- Industry market structure. Operator market share dynamics, customer acquisition cost trends, advertising-spend analysis, and ongoing consolidation in the sector.
- Annual State of the Industry report. Lead author of the BettingOnline.org annual flagship research report covering handle, GGR, operator share, regulatory shifts, and forecasts.

Editorial principles & disclosures
Alex follows the BettingOnline.org editorial standards: no paid placement, no operator influence on review scoring, structural separation between editorial and business teams, real-money testing of every operator review, and quarterly re-rating of all operator scores.
Alex maintains personal accounts at multiple US-licensed sportsbooks for review-testing purposes. To prevent conflicts of interest with active editorial coverage, Alex does not place bets on outcomes about which he has published original analysis until that analysis has been live for at least 7 days and the relevant markets have moved.
Alex has no equity, advisory, or board relationships with any sports betting operator. He has no equity stake in BettingOnline.org's parent company beyond standard editorial-team compensation.
