Online Roulette Betting

The wheel doesn't care about your last spin. Pick the right variant — European or French — and the math is fair. Pick American and you've voluntarily doubled the house edge for no reason.

Roulette is one of the oldest casino games and one of the easiest to play. The math, however, depends entirely on which wheel you pick. Single-zero European roulette has a 2.7% house edge. Double-zero American roulette has a 5.26% house edge — almost twice as expensive. Always play European.

Roulette variants

European — 37 pockets (1-36 plus single 0). House edge 2.70%.

French — same wheel as European but with the La Partage or En Prison rule on even-money bets. La Partage refunds half your stake on a 0; En Prison locks it for one more spin. Effective house edge on even-money bets drops to 1.35% — the best wheel in the casino.

American — 38 pockets (1-36 plus 0 and 00). House edge 5.26%. Avoid.

Bet types

Inside bets: straight (single number, 35:1), split (two numbers), street (three), corner (four), six-line. Outside bets: red/black, even/odd, high/low (1-18 / 19-36), columns, dozens. All have the same long-run expected loss except for those affected by La Partage.

Strategy reality check

No betting system can change the house edge. Martingale, Fibonacci, D'Alembert — they all have the same negative expected value as flat-betting. They feel different (smaller variance, occasional table-limit busts) but the math is identical.

The only 'strategy' that matters is variant selection: French roulette with La Partage on even-money bets is the best play in the casino on a per-spin basis.

Live dealer roulette

Lightning Roulette, Immersive Roulette and Speed Auto Roulette from Evolution Gaming are excellent. Lightning adds 50× to 500× multipliers on selected straight numbers, with a slight RTP cost (~1% added house edge). Fun, but stick to standard European tables for the best math.
